Kaohsiung is a major city with earliest international connection in Taiwan history, and it has entered an important stage of transformation in recent years. NSYSU considers the harbor city development as a pivotal goal, and hence endeavors to line up with urban universities around the world with similar context in geographical environment and industrial development. The universities would conjointly study, research, and look into the direction of the city’s future development in order to provide policy recommendations and participate in action. Through regular inter-university meetings, research exchanges, student exchanges, and collaborative courses, the universities learn from each other and share experiences in placemaking, thus fulfilling the university social responsibility by assisting in the promotion of local development.
