Global Views Monthly magazine has announced the best universities in Taiwan ranking 2022. National Sun Yat-sen University is listed in the top 5 universities. In addition, for the indicator of social reputation, NSYSU is the second highest ranked school, going up three places from last year and outranked only by National Taiwan University.

 

To keep up with changing social trends, Global Views Monthly has been updating its key indicators and weighted scoring for years in order to provide credible ranking results. For the indicator of social reputation, according to Global Views Monthly, it looks to academic contribution, development of patented technology and SDGs participation. Schools need to raise talents who efficiently apply knowledges into industries and meets general social expectation. Thus, the indicator of social reputation is relatively unique. In addition to objective scoring results, peer evaluation of school presidents, alumni’s contribution and social issue participations are also included in the scoring process.

 

In 2022, National Taiwan University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Tsing Hua University, National Cheng Kung University and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University are listed the top 5 schools respectively for social reputation. NSYSU has been moved from the fifth to the second place this year, outranking many well-known schools.

Global Views Monthly emphasized that NSYSU has evidently proved its progress in social contribution by establishment of Post-Baccalaureate Medicine School, College of Semiconductor and Advanced Technology Research and School of Banking and Finance, complying with national higher education policies. NSYSU also presents outstanding contribution of SDGs studies and patent. Moreover, the school put much effort to support students from low income families by providing the highest bursary per person funded by school among all domestic universities. All these matter of facts evidently strengthen NSYSU’s social reputation. As University Social Responsibility projects has been moving up to the stage of practice, Global Views Monthly also include quantifiable indicators, such as number of SDGs papers and number of SDGs patent, as evaluating social reputation of schools.

 

Global Views Monthly emphasized that there are fundamental methods to evaluate if the university provides abundant educational resources: to assess faculties by educational quality, academia /industry contribution and services. However, for students who obtain higher education resources, they should be problem solvers with expertise, people skills and positive mentality.
