Social Practice Partnership and Empowerment Program
NSYSU Social Engagement Center seeks to understand the current status and problems of local communities by reaching out and getting in touch, and then devise problem-specific solutions and introduce necessary resources. The Center also partners with external organizations and project teams with similar goals and ideas to enable mutual sharing of resources between the academic and fieldwork circles and greater synergy for local development.
The empowerment program is backed up by the abundant and diversified academic fields of NSYSU. Areas of cooperation cover industries, communities, agriculture, arts and culture, and government departments. Practicable solutions are proposed and concurrently executed through all sorts of projects. Students are also encouraged to join the work of the projects, exemplifying the concept of learning by doing. They may put forth and actually implement solutions for the cooperating units in an innovative and creative way, meanwhile developing their problem-solving ability. The empowerment program also extends to the community partners, offering competence enhancement training to communities according to their actual needs, while also gaining feedback from their valuable fieldwork experiences to provide a knowledge paradigm for academic research and education. Thus, a win-win is resulted.
